Classroom Management for K–12 Educators is an eLearning project designed to support teachers—particularly new and early-career educators—in developing practical strategies for managing classroom behavior and fostering positive learning environments. I designed this learning experience to move beyond theory by focusing on real classroom scenarios, reflection, and actionable strategies educators can apply immediately. The project demonstrates my ability to design professional learning experiences that balance instructional theory with real-world application.
Analyze the Problem
I began by identifying a common challenge for K–12 educators: while teachers often understand instructional content, classroom disruptions and disengagement can interrupt learning and reduce instructional effectiveness.
Key insight:
Teachers needed practical, scenario-based strategies they could apply immediately, not just theoretical classroom management concepts.
Understand the Learner
Target Audience:
New and early-career K–12 teachers
Educators seeking practical classroom management support
Learner Needs:
Realistic classroom scenarios
Guidance on managing student behavior and emotional regulation
Strategies that support engagement without interrupting instruction
This helped ensure the design focused on real classroom experiences, not abstract advice.
Development
I developed a self-paced eLearning module using Articulate Rise, ensuring the experience was clear, intuitive, and engaging.
Development highlights:
Structured content into short, focused sections
Designed interactive scenarios with guided reflection
Used consistent navigation and visual layout to reduce cognitive load
The goal was to keep teachers focused on learning and decision-making, not navigation.
Design the Learning Strategy
Based on the analysis, I chose a scenario-based and reflective learning approach.
Design decisions included:
Using realistic classroom situations, teachers commonly face
Incorporating reflection prompts to encourage self-assessment
Focusing on actionable strategies rather than lengthy explanations
This approach supports adult learning principles by emphasizing relevance and application.
By the end of the module, Educators can:
Recognize common classroom management challenges
Apply practical strategies to manage disruptions
Support student engagement and emotional regulation
