Disney To Grim Audio Narration is an instructional audio project that explores how familiar fairy tales were adapted and transformed from their original Grimm versions into modern Disney narratives. This project demonstrates how audio can be used as an effective instructional medium to support storytelling, critical listening, and learner engagement. I designed and produced this audio experience with a focus on clarity, pacing, and narrative flow, intentionally using sound as the primary learning modality. The project showcases my ability to select suitable instructional formats, develop engaging multimedia content, and apply instructional design principles beyond traditional e-learning.
Analyze the Learning Goal
I began by identifying the instructional goal: help learners understand how traditional Grimm fairy tales were adapted into modern Disney narratives, with a focus on storytelling, theme transformation, and cultural context.
Key insight:
Because the learning objective focused on narrative understanding and comparison, audio was the most effective instructional modality to support listening, comprehension, and engagement.
Understand the Learner
Target Audience:
Higher-education learners studying literature and storytelling.
Learner Needs:
Clear narrative structure
Engaging delivery to maintain attention
Guided listening to support analysis and reflection
This ensured the audio experience was designed intentionally for instructional listening, not passive consumption.
Design the Instructional Strategy
I designed the experience as guided instructional narration, structuring the audio to introduce context, highlight key narrative elements, and support comparison between the Grimm and Disney versions.
Design decisions included:
Segmenting narration into logical sections
Using pacing and emphasis to highlight key ideas
Structuring content to support critical listening
This approach aligns with multimedia learning principles by matching the format to the learning goal.
Developing Audio Experience
I recorded and edited the instructional narration using Adobe Audition, with a focus on clarity, pacing, and sound quality.
Development highlights:
Recorded clean narration with consistent tone
Edited audio to remove noise and balance levels
Structured transitions to support flow and comprehension
The goal was to create a polished, professional instructional audio experience.
By the end of the audio experience, learners can:
Identify key differences between Grimm and Disney narratives
Understand how storytelling evolves across time and media
Engage in critical listening and narrative analysis
